In turn, Stormtrooper’s were famous (even in canon) for their bad aim and often did not handle a combat situation well, often losing skirmishes even when they vastly outnumbered their opposition (a reason the Rebellion would eventually win).
The Empire on the other hand used the general population to fill their Stormtrooper ranks - these people did not receive anywhere near the level of training the average Clone did, and most likely just went into the military because it was an easy way to leave their life behind and see more of the Galaxy. The only reason that the Clone Wars went on for as long as it did was because the separatist army was able to maintain their build level for new units during the war, so they were able to maintain some level of dominance just in sheer numbers. Couple this with the Jedi’s leadership and you had an incredibly robust and efficient military. The clones were literally bred for war, with each clone receiving vast military training from the moment they were born. The Clone hierarchy was clear, the Jedi generals commanded from the front lines and Republic admirals served the fleets. The Republic’s military was very well organised by the time of the Clone Wars. Even if you ignore the fact that the Empire is an allegory for the Nazis, in reality this is not a close contest.
